Faith and the Future of America

One of the interesting benefits (drawbacks?) of Facebook is encountering friends of friends through their comments on friends’ status postings.  In a way, we “meet” new people, albeit only in writing.  Recently, one such friend of a friend commented on the future of America.  Although his observations were right on the mark, his comments had a decidedly fatalistic tone about the future of our nation.  He wrote:

“Get ready for more democratic socialism… It is the wave of the world. The republic has only existed in the mind’s eye of a few conservatives who can get the fact that this country is post-everything it was founded upon. The genie is out of the bottle.”

“This my friend is where Amerika is at. There is no change, no option, no miracle. Amerika is unimportant to God’s economy.”

I thought, “Could he be right?  Is that all there is for America?”.  My response follows:

“Your observations are astute. We face an impossible situation in our current malaise, in that too many of our fellow citizens do not understand or do not ascribe to the founding principles of the republic. Furthermore, there has been a general acquiescence to the assault on respect, honor and gratitude to God as He who endows and sustains our freedoms.

I do not pretend to know what God has planned for our nation. Perhaps you are correct, that the time for America’s blessing has passed. I only know that God calls me to pray and act on behalf of my family, my neighbors and my country. So, I commit myself to prayer, and to do what I can to persuade my fellow citizens to agree with me that our republic is worth saving and restoring, and that with God’s help, it is not too late.

Consider the situation of our founders, who wrote “with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor” as they set themselves in opposition to the most powerful empire of the world at that time. They also faced an impossible situation, but recognized that the hand of God is irresistible, and overcomes all opposition. There are many of us who claim the promise of 2 Chron. 7:14, to wit: “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land”.

As an individual, I alone cannot decide the fate of the nation. However, I can decide what I will pray and what I will seek. I will not choose oblivion for America. I choose salvation and restoration of the gift of freedom for us and our posterity, and I will pray and work to that end. What do you choose?”

Faith. Specifically, the Christian Faith.

America was founded on Judeo/Christian Values as found in the Bible. America was founded by People of Faith, and the Bible was used as the governing document that our Rules, Laws and even our Constitution was based on.

Over the last 60 years or so, America has fallen away from our founding principles. We have banned the Bible from Public Schools, Banned Prayer from most public gatherings, and if one, just one person complains about anything Christian, the usual reaction is to uphold the one at the detriment of all the others.

We believe that the only way we can save America is to return to our founding Christian Principles as found in the Bible.

One of our primary goals is to educate People of Faith in the Political Process, so we can elect like minded people to elected office.

Another primary goal is to get people of faith to the polls on election day to vote.

We are people of faith. Will you join us?
